Chapter 14

Legal

Legal is StepX's Vietnamese law assistant: ask in plain language, and it searches the current body of legal documents directly and answers with a Legal basis block. Legal Q&A is live today; contract review, contract drafting, legal support and lawyer contact are coming soon.

Five videos: what the Legal page is, a first question in Standard mode, Pro mode, follow-ups and History, then costs, limits and plans. Answers are for reference only and do not replace a lawyer's advice.

The Legal page has a feature tab strip, two mode cards, a History panel on the left and a credit bar top right. Standard plans and above can use it; every question draws on the organization's credits.

Use it when: Opening Legal for the first time, or checking which features are live and how costs work before asking.

Steps

  1. 1Open Legal in the sidebar (last group, next to Chat and Limits & plans). The title and description say the assistant searches the Vietnamese legal corpus.
  2. 2The tab strip: Legal Q&A is live; Contract review, Contract drafting, Legal support and Lawyer contact carry a Coming soon badge and only show a description card.
  3. 3Two modes: Standard for looking up provisions and summarising documents; Pro reasons in several steps across many documents and costs more credits.
  4. 4On the left is History: every legal conversation of yours is saved and can be reopened; the button next to the tab strip hides or shows the panel.
  5. 5Top right shows your remaining credits, the same pool as Chat. Owners also get a Usage button.

Good to know

  • Answers are for reference only and do not replace a lawyer's advice; that reminder always sits under the composer.

Outcome: Know what the Legal page does, which tab is live, which mode to pick and where credits are charged.

2

Pick Standard, type your question as you would ask a person and send. The assistant searches and streams its answer; it ends with a Legal basis block listing each document and article it relied on.

Use it when: A quick lookup of one rule: a deadline, a fine, a condition, a procedure.

Steps

  1. 1On the empty Legal page the Standard card is selected. Click the Ask your legal question box, type the question and click send or press Enter (Shift + Enter for a new line).
  2. 2The question appears on the right; below it Searching legal documents shows, then the answer streams in. While it works the send button becomes Stop; a hard question can take over a minute.
  3. 3Read the answer: the specific rule, with headings and bold where useful.
  4. 4The Legal basis block at the end: each chip is one document with its article and clause. Click a chip to open the original text on Thư viện pháp luật (new tab).
  5. 5The real cost is charged as soon as the answer finishes, by its actual length and difficulty; the credit bar top right drops accordingly. The conversation is saved to History.
Example · Example

Q: How much notice must an employee on an open-ended contract give before resigning?

A: at least 45 days, except in a few special cases where the contract can be ended without notice.

Legal basis: Labour Code No. 45/2019/QH14, Article 35

Good to know

  • Short questions with a clear situation (contract type, who is involved, when) get closer answers at lower cost.

Outcome: Ask a first question, read the answer and open the right source document from the Legal basis block.

3

Pro is for questions that compare several documents or need multi-step reasoning. The assistant shows its thinking while it searches, answers as a comparison table and lists more sources; in return it costs more credits than Standard.

Use it when: Comparing two business models, two contract types, or a situation that touches several laws at once.

Steps

  1. 1Click New question, pick the Pro card, type the question and send.
  2. 2The Thinking panel opens with lines about which documents it is checking and what it compares. A complex question can take over a minute; leave the page running, switching tabs does not lose the answer.
  3. 3Once the answer starts, the thinking collapses into Thought for … seconds; click it to read again. The answer is usually a comparison table, criterion by criterion.
  4. 4Scroll down: the Legal basis block lists more documents; the credit bar drops more than after a Standard question.
  5. 5To stop midway, click the Stop button (square) next to the composer: what has been answered stays, and credits still reflect what the assistant already processed.
Example · Example

Q: How do a household business and a single-member LLC differ in asset liability, headcount and tax?

A: a three-criterion comparison table, citing the 2020 Law on Enterprises and its guiding decrees.

Good to know

  • Use Pro when it is worth it: a simple lookup in Standard gives the same answer at a fraction of the cost.

Outcome: Know when to pick Pro, read the thinking panel and the comparison table, and stop an answer when needed.

4

Within a conversation the assistant remembers earlier turns, so you can ask follow-ups without repeating the context. History keeps every conversation of your own: reopen, continue or delete.

Use it when: Digging into one situation over several questions, or finding an answer you asked for last week.

Steps

  1. 1Open a conversation from History. Under the composer are the two compact mode cards and New question; the mode can be switched midway.
  2. 2Type a follow-up and send: the assistant knows you mean the situation just discussed.
  3. 3The History panel highlights the open conversation; its title comes from the first question, with the time and message count.
  4. 4New question clears the screen; the new conversation is saved once you send. Create conversation in History adds an empty entry named New conversation right away and names it after your first question later.
  5. 5Click an older entry to bring back every question, answer and legal basis; you can continue right away.
  6. 6Hover an entry and click the bin, then confirm Delete. Deletion is permanent.

Good to know

  • History is per user: colleagues in the same organization cannot see your legal conversations.

Outcome: Ask follow-ups in one conversation, start new ones, reopen and delete old ones.

5

Legal has no separate plan: each question draws on the organization's chat credits by actual usage, the same pool as Chat. The Free plan does not include Legal; Standard and above do.

Use it when: Checking how many credits the team spent on Legal, what happens when credits run out, or why the page is locked.

Steps

  1. 1The credit bar top right on the Legal page is your share, the same figure as the Credits box in the sidebar. Owners can allocate credits to each member.
  2. 2Owners click Usage: three tabs, Overview, Members and Credit allocation, show credits spent by day and by person and let you re-allocate without leaving the page.
  3. 3When monthly credits (or your share) run out, the assistant says so and charges nothing; the question goes back into the composer. Top up or wait for the next period under Limits & plans; top-up credits work for Legal too.
  4. 4On the Free plan the Legal menu shows a crown and the page is locked behind Upgrade to use; Upgrade now takes you to Limits & plans.

Good to know

  • Pro costs many times more than Standard; before sending, the system checks you can afford one question at the ceiling so the balance never goes negative.

Outcome: See that Legal shares chat credits, open Usage, and know which plans include it.
